Why is every single Republican candidate a joke?

If you think people like Santorum, Bachmann, Gingrich, and Perry should be leading a country you are either not sane or unintelligent. I don’t understand why no one pays attention to somebody intelligent/knows what he’s talking about like Huntsman…hell even John McCain is more legitimate. Not a huge Obama fan but he’s basically got his 2nd term wrapped up.
